Reaction
According the survey above, I scored highest in learning style number four, Bodily-Kinesthetic, and learning style number six, Interpersonal. I think that my personality and actions strongly correlate with these results. Ever since I was a child I have played many different sports, most notably softball, and have always felt that I retained information in school when I had to construct models and such with either blocks, clay, etc. One specific example of how Gardner’s description of Bodily-Kinesthetic intelligence applies to me is when he notes that someone that excels in this intelligence has the ability to “critique the actions of the body”. I demonstrate this with my softball team by telling some of the girls at bat “if you don’t dip your back shoulder, you wont pop the ball up’ pr in the field “follow through with your throw and it will go straight” as well as other tips about body movements to get your desired results. As far as Interpersonal being one of my strongest intelligences, I completely agree! I love to talk and interact with other people. I believe I am a prime example of someone who fulfills the traits described by Gardner of someone who is “Interpersonally intelligent”. Like Gardner illustrates, I am able to clearly establish and fulfill the criteria that needs to be met in groups and get everyone to work towards a common goal. Also I am able to pickup on different interpersonal cues and adjust my approach to achieve the desired reaction from someone. Overall I felt that Gardner effectively pinpointed the several intelligences that exist and that people can categorize as their strongest and weakest suits.
